Abstract

In order to study the effect of ion beam-mediated transfer of soybean DNA into common wheat, SDS-PAGE and A-PAGE electrophoresis were used to analyze the glutenin and gliadin in high protein content plants in the progeny of common wheat after ion injection-mediated transfer of soybean DNA. The SDS-PAGE electrophoresis results showed that compared with the control, the number of HMW-GS bands of 8 high-protein content plants changed or the coloring was enhanced. A-PAGE electrophoresis results showed that compared with the control, the number and coloring intensity of gliadin bands in 9 high-protein plants changed. This shows that ion beam-mediated transfer of soybean DNA into the high-protein content plants of common wheat progeny may have mutations in the gliadin and glutenin gene loci.
