Abstract

Four Inner Mongolia Sunit sheep weighing about 30kg and equipped with permanent ruminal fistulas were selected to study the effects of different protein sources in the feed on the concentration of small peptides in the rumen. The experiment adopted a 4¡Á4 Latin square design, selected four protein raw materials: fish meal, soybean meal, casein, and corn gluten meal, and prepared a single protein source diet at a crude protein level of 14% (concentrate-to-coarse ratio 3:7). Each sheep had a daily The feeding amount is 1kg, and the metabolic energy supply is 1.2 times the maintenance requirement. The test results show that the types and quantities of peptides released in the rumen from different protein sources are different at different time points, and most small peptides reach peak concentrations at 2 to 6 hours. The order of the accumulation of small peptides in the rumen of the corn protein group, fish meal group, and soybean meal group in 6 hours is: pro-leu>val-val>pro-ala>met-met; the order of the accumulation of small peptides in the rumen of the casein group in 6 hours is: : pro-leu£¾pro-ala£¾val-val£¾met-met. It is further confirmed that small peptides whose first amino acid residue from the nitrogen end is pro and have a hydrophobic amino acid structure, or small peptides with one of the two structural characteristics, have the property of resisting rumen microbial degradation.
