Abstract

Feeding transgenic Bt-cry1Ab corn pollen to ladybugs axyridis, a preliminary study was conducted on the effects of transgenic corn pollen on ladybugs. The results show that when the ladybug axyridis feeds on Bt-cry1Ab transgenic corn pollen mixed with an appropriate amount of aphids, compared with when it feeds on non-transgenic parent corn pollen mixed with an appropriate amount of aphids, there is no significant difference in the development duration of each insect state; take Feeding corn pollen transformed with Bt-cry1Ab gene has no significant effect on the weight gain of ladybug axyridis. There was no significant difference in alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase activity, acetylcholinesterase activity and glutathione-S-transferase activity in the ladybugs that fed on transgenic corn pollen in most instars compared with the control group. No Bt insecticidal protein was detected in ladybirds that fed on Bt-cry1Ab transgenic corn pollen using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. The Bt-cry1Ab corn pollen transfected has no significant negative impact on the growth and development of A. axyridis, which preliminarily proves that Bt corn MON810 pollen is safe for A. axyridis.
