Abstract

Goose parvovirus is the causative agent of gosling plague. Its genome contains two major open reading frames (orf), encoding non-structural proteins (ns) and structural proteins (vp) respectively. In order to conduct epitope mapping of these two proteins, 34 overlapping short peptides covering 50 to 60 amino acid residues of the non-structural protein ns and the structural protein vp were designed and fused for expression. Western blot analysis of these 34 fusion proteins was performed using the serum of 10-week-old goose challenged with the virus, and the results identified that the linear antigenic epitope of the ns protein is located in the 453-627 amino acid region of the C terminus; the linear antigenic epitope of the vp protein is located at 35-198, 423 ¡ª491, 531-595, 616-669 and 678-732 amino acid regions.
