Abstract

Objective: To study the antioxidant effects of different doses of wheat germ active peptides on D-galactose aging model mice. Methods: 50 Kunming mice were randomly divided into 5 groups (normal control group, model control group, low, medium and high-dose peptide groups). Except for the normal control group, the other 4 groups were intraperitoneally injected with 600mg/(kgbw¡¤d) D-galactose was used to establish an aging model. The peptide group was orally administered low, medium and high doses (200, 800, 1000 mg/(kg bw¡¤d) of wheat germ active peptide. The experimental period was 45 days. The mice were sacrificed by taking blood from their eyeballs and measuring serum, Superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity, total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content in the brain, liver and heart. Results: Wheat germ active peptide can significantly increase the activity of T-AOC, GSH-Px, and SOD in serum (P £¼ 0.01), as well as the activity of SOD and T-AOC in the heart (P £¼ 0.01); it can also significantly increase GSH-Px in the brain and liver. activity (P £¼ 0.05) and T-AOC in the brain (P £¼ 0.05); at the same time, the MDA content in serum and various tissues was significantly reduced (P £¼ 0.05). Conclusion: It shows that wheat germ active peptide has strong in vivo resistance Oxidative activity
